English 10 (POR)

Course Overview:
The English 10 curriculum is designed to build upon skills learned in English 9 and to further students’ understanding of various text types including novels, drama, nonfiction, and poetry. The curriculum is structured into thematic units which will foster growth in your child’s reading comprehension, writing, and analytical skills. Students will use the RACE writing strategy and the writing process to produce short writing responses throughout the year, as well as complete larger written assessments such as a personal sonnet, a formal research paper, argumentative writing, and narrative writing. Additionally, this curriculum will allow students to broaden their thought process about big ideas such as discrimination, equality, betrayal, jealousy, and various social issues.
